Synopsis
Elisette was comfortable with her quiet cottage life, practicing her craft as she pleased and helping ease the ailments of whoever felt brave enough to journey to her little corner of the woods. Ostracized since birth because of her magic, she spent years learning to coexist in a place that frowns upon her existence.
When concerns arise about her father, she uncovers a festering secret that he held close out of a sense of paternal duty until it was almost too late to fix. As he resigns himself to his fate, Elise takes it upon herself to solve it. Her solution requires turning to the last person she’d ever associate with: the man who created the problem in the first place. Only his trade is… impossible.
After sleepless nights, useless trips into the village, and copious amounts of research, Elise finally hunts down a lead. When a late-night ritual for guidance delivers that lead in the form of a beautiful, towering goddess who insists on helping, she finds more than she ever bargained for. Sylvane could be the answer to filling a void that Elise didn’t even know she had, changing her life forever.
***Trigger Warnings***
There are a few trigger warnings. The most prominent one is the talk of parents who have passed away.
Pros
I LOVED the characters. Everyone grew together over time and eventually the goal was tackled. I love how dedicated Elisette is to helping dig her father out of debt.
I’m warning you if you are not into heat this may not be the best sapphic witchy romance for you. However, if you are a lover of spice, this book will bring all kinds of erotic magic into your life.
The way the author portrays gods and goddesses is beautiful. It’s done in a wholesome, magical way, that doesn’t intimate or frighten readers.
The aesthetic of this book is just chef’s kiss! I could sit outside all day with a pitcher of tea, and cucumber sandwiches, curled up in a chair in the yard.
This was an easy read. After a long book or novel, I enjoy a short and sweet romance. Bound and Bewitched by Wren Cartwright did the trick for me.
The way she described Sylvane, the goddess of nature, fertility, and earth was captivating. I swear at some points I felt her in the room with me. Job well done!
The relationship between the witch and goddess is beautiful! They had humor, tough times, and each other. There was nothing these two ladies couldn’t tackle together.
The HEA was icing on the cake! Many romances these days do not have happily ever afters. To be honest I usually DNF any book that does not.
As an author myself, I feel that happily ever afters or happy for nows are essential to a majority of the romance novels on the market.
Cons
The only con I honestly found in the book is the slow beginning. But, this could also just bother me because I am used to action happening within the first page of the book.
Final Thoughts
Bound and Bewitched by Wren Cartwright is a sapphic, witchy, and spectacular read that will enchant your soul with wonder. If you like short, cottagecore romance, you’ll fly head over broomstick for this book.
